Roll Call!!

Hello … hello … hello!  Is there anybody out there??  Oh … there is … well … ok!  Just checking.

I say this somewhat in jest because I think it's a bit humorous and somewhat presumptous that Mr. Harold Camping has undoubtedly taken on the Matt. 24:36 challege personally. I believe this is now the third date for him that's come and gone – one for each of the triune God it seems Continue Reading…

Put Me In Coach!

Ever feel like God is sitting on the sidelines just waiting for you to put him in the game … like you're some kind of life coach that holds the eternal play book.  Ever feel like you have so much busyness bouncing off the inside walls of your cranium that the interference … the static, serves as noise cancelling ear plugs to God's message in your life. Continue Reading…

A New Language!

We've been back from China now a little over 3 months and I snapped out of my autopilot mode the other day to notice something most profound … Jenna doesn't speak Chinese anymore.  She has realized that it serves her poorly to use Mandarin around these parts … so she's quit!  She cutting off full sentences like, "Daddy, don't do that!", " Daddy, please stop!" and my personal favorite, "I lub you!!"  Continue Reading…

Men are From Earth & Women are From … well Earth!!

I am now convinced more than ever that men and women can if fact co-exist on a single planet … and God chose Earth … not Mars or Venus!!  We are not one gender martians and the other venetians (??), and we definitely aren't as different as night and day … and I know this now not because I stayed in a queen bed at a Holiday Inn last night but because I stayed on a queen bed at Callaway Gardens last weekend … at a women's retreat … with 500+ ladies Continue Reading…

Keep Your Courage … Answer!!

I know … I know!!  I let way too much time lapse in between throwing the question out and providing the answer.  I failed my Blogger 101 class, so I'll try and redeem myself somehow in some future worship blogs.

Anyway … in the case that a quick refresher is needed, please go back and read the entry earlier this month called "Keep Your Courage … Forget Your Mind!!"  Lucy blurted this out while in China and the question I asked was … what were we doing when this was said?? Continue Reading…

It’s About a Baby!

It’s About a Baby!

The object of our Christian worship doesn't live at the North Pole and guide Rudolph through the Christmas Eve skies … it isn't wrapped with pretty paper and placed under a tree … it isn't even about traditional seasonal family gatherings.  Although the aforementioned are all wonderful and right, they are made whole when seen through the filter of a baby … the Baby named Jesus. Continue Reading…

Fall On Your Knees … and Side!

New take on "falling on your knees!"  Think you're safe at a church Christmas Program … enter Camel (who shall remain nameless)!  No person or animal was hurt, by the way.

We Are Not Orphans!

My wife and I adopted a gorgeous little girl from China 5 years ago now and are looking to go back to China in a couple of months to get #2 girl (one more to have me wrapped around) and are waiting on an almost 3 year old boy from Kyrgyzstan.  The experience in and of itself is quite incredible.  These children were at one point orphans and then … not!  They are and will be adopted into our family forever … and that's a mighty long time.  Continue Reading…

How To Be Cared For.

How To Be Cared For.

God reveals himself to us in many ways.  The force driving the revelation train is none other than the Holy Spirit; however, the vehicle that God uses to reveal can be a wide variety of things, since all good things are created by him and for him.  One of those vehicles for me is his creation … nature.  I guess that I would say nature is like the Holy Spirit dropping me in a spiritual Ferrari and then, four to the floor! Where Do You Get Your Sod??

Where Do You Get Your Sod??

I recently had some new sod laid and noticed the other day that an army of weeds had settled and made a home.  They were of the of the broad leaf variety and really stubborn about wanting to stake their claim. This family of weeds boasted a tap root that drove deep into the soil and kind of snickered when I tried to pull them up.  It was as if they knew that the part of them I left behind would soon return with more zeal than before.
